Multiple sclerosis and everyday tasks
Task guides for fiddly jobs with less grip, for saving energy, and for sitting down when you'd usually stand.
The guides linked here come at each task from three directions: keeping hold of small or slippery things, having enough left in the tank for what matters later in the day, and staying on your feet long enough to finish a shower or a meal.
Where a guide exists for more than one of those, you'll see them side by side under the task. The grip guides cover thicker handles, button hooks and openers that do the turning for you. The energy and standing guides lean on sitting down: a shower chair, a perching stool at the counter, vegetable prep at the table, and grouping jobs so you aren't up and down all afternoon.
An occupational therapist can go through a typical day with you and point out where a tool would help and where changing the order of things would help more. Some MS centers have one on staff.
